Welcome.
We're so glad you're here.

Whether you're seeking legal assistance on the behalf of yourself, a detained family member/ loved one, or helping as our interpreter, we know this is an impossibly scary time to be an immigrant in America. There is so much more we could say here. But for now, we will simply offer the reminder: you are not alone

In fact, you are far from alone. There is a community of brilliant advocates, attorneys, activists, policy makers, and other immigrants from around the world fighting alongside you. Our little community at Hatfield Immigration is just a tiny example of this, but we still think it's pretty darn good.

Whether you're looking for someone to represent a loved one who is in ICE Custody, or finally ready for one of the last (and best) legal stops in immigration law, citizenship, please reach out to schedule a consultation! We would love to work with you.

Our onboarding process for new clients is detailed below. If you have remaining questions, or aren't sure we are able to handle your specific type of case, please fill out the "contact us" form, or send an email to contact@hatfieldimmigration.com.

1) Schedule a Consultation

We understand it can be incredibly frustrating to pay for a consultation, especially when the outcome is unknown. However, consultations are ultimately the only way we can completely evaluate any and all legal pathways forward to achieve our ultimate immigration goal - whether that's temporary or immigrant status.

All initial consultations are with Kelsey R Hatfield, Esq.

Detained consultations at Buffalo Federal Detention Center are held in person.

All other consultations are held via Google Meet/ Teams Video call, for current safety concerns, (as well as distance when handling detained cases.)

Every consultation ends with a potential legal "game plan," or more often several options for a "game plan," meaning option or options on how to move forward with a case and arguments to make. Sometimes, unfortunately, these are extremely limited, especially in today's climate.

We very much discourage same day decisions on how to move forward, both legally and with legal representation.. Ultimately, we want every client to choose what's best for them, including if that means hiring a different attorney. We are not here to push astronomical legal fees for a case with no chance of success - whatever decision best serves clients and their families is what makes us most satisfied.

Follow up for each consultation looks a bit differently - it depends on the particular potential client, their situation, and their preferences. We are used to this, and make it work, no matter the situation.

2) Representation

If, after our consultation, a client decides to hire us for representation, a retainer agreement must be signed by the client (or his/her authorized contact in detained cases,) and legal fees must either be paid in full, or a down payment made in accordance with the payment structure agreed upon before the retainer agreement is sent before ANY work on the case begins.

Down payments and monthly payments can be flexible, especially for more costly cases.

Clients then meet our wonderful office manager, Grant, through an introductory email which includes instructions as to our to access and add to our secured shared client virtual drives, how to create an online portal account (which is used to access our smartphone application as well,) and give more information about mental health services and other things we offer in service of a wholistic approach to serving our clients.
